Because the Toolkit for Culture and Communication is based on twenty-five years of work with ESL students, it naturally meets many of the needs of those individuals who have come to live and study in the United States. However, because it is written for American-born students and teachers, there are language aspects of the Toolkit that can be extremely useful to ESL students ö if they are presented separately. A Manual for ESL adds this ESL component to the Toolkit at two language competency levels:

• A beginning to lower intermediate level
• An upper intermediate to an advanced level.
