+ Matt Dulin
My name is Matt Dulin and I am a communication (print journalism) senior at the University of Houston. I was born in Houston and have lived here all my life. I'm interested in language and communication in general, and culture bumps are an interesting way to look at situations where things like language and communication are critical.

about us
+ Wang Lijun
Hi, My name is Wang Lijun. I'm a graduate student from China. My major is Electrical Engineering. I've been here for 6 months. Right now, I'm studying English in LCC, and I'm planning to enter into a master’s program as soon as I pass the GRE. It was really exciting when I first landed in Houston. Generally speaking, there's little difference between American and Chinese culture, so I've adapted myself easily into the new environment.
+ Andres Paez
I was born in raised in Ecuador but for the past 6 months, I have been attending school at the University of Houston in United States where I plan to stay until I finish my career. I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering as I feel it’s the path that mostly catches my interests. I am a very health oriented person. I enjoy working out and eating right. I am very passionate about swimming and surfing. It is a dream of mine to visit Brazil for a surfing adventure. I am very easy going and I really enjoy learning about different cultures and languages.
+ Yeni Parga
My name is Yeni Parga. I am an anthropology major at the University of Houston. I have lived in Houston all my life. My family is from Mexico. I believe that culture is made up by our identity; culture bumps are not exclusively based on experience rather several other factors. Culture bumps is a topic which is interesting because it involves perceptions and an open mind.
+ Allan Solomon
My name is Allan Solomon, and I am a junior at the University of Houston. I am pursuing a double major in English and Chinese. I was born in Galveston, and have lived all my life in the Houston area. I have always been interested in foreign cultures and languages. Culture bumps are interesting in that they really illustrate how much our cultural background affects the interactions we have with others in so many ways.
+ Amanda Stoerner
My name is Amanda Stoerner. I am majoring in Spanish with a minor in English. I was born in Houston and have lived here most of my life. I have also lived, worked, and gone to school in Salamanca, Spain and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. I love learning about other cultures, languages, and just living abroad in general. The topic of "Culture Bumps" is interesting to me because I have encountered and experienced many Bumps over the years. It's really exciting to know that there's not only a name for that 'situation' but also a science on how one can handle the Bumps.
