The CNPC 2015-2016 Cohort from the Asian American Studies Center Global Leadership Program at the University of Houston has successfully completed their language and culture component with flying colors. They completed the Toolkit for Culture and Communication which includes modules on perceptions, culture bumps, communication styles, cultural value systems, human commonalities, cultural adjustment cycle and emotional intelligence. In addition, they explored many American and Texas cultural behaviors as well as learning about the small details of American life. They conducted surveys both on-campus at the University of Houston as well as in their communities and created video narratives of their culture bumps. Presentations and writing assignments were also a part of their experience. Their instructor, Dr. Carol M. Archer notes that they brought a wonderful commitment to excellence, curiosity and creativity to all of their engagements. She commented, “It has been a privilege and delight to work with these outstanding individuals from CNPC. They have truly become Culture Bump Experts“.

A partial overview of their experience can be seen in this video as well as in their blogs…
